Remodelling and extending this family home in Boxmoor has improved accessibility for the owners through a carefully considered design that has created generous, light-filled living spaces that open on to the established garden without a change of level.  

 

Re-configuring the ground floor has provided the downstairs bedroom with an ensuite wet-room; a larger, private study has been created for home working; and the extended kitchen provides a new dining area that links to a linear garden room running along the rear of the house.   

 

The design features exposed timbers and generous amounts of glazing to provide high levels of daylight and animate the spaces. Overhanging roofs provide solar shading and are finished with a wildflower meadow.
